July 3, 2017 - Transfers/Happy America Day! - Springville, NY

Whatta week! It was the last week of the transfer! And I'm staying here in the Freedom Branch! Elder Shaw and I will be staying together, but we are getting Elder  Short come join us! So excited! It's going to be a blast!

Monday was a great pday! It was zone Pday and the 2 zones in Buffalo
got together in Buffalo at the Amherst building! It was good to see
all the homies that are in buff north zone! We had a party! We played
lots of basketball and hung out. It was a good time! After Pday we
drove back down to our areas and Elder Viscaรญno came to arcade with me
and we had exchanges! Monday night we went to the coopers for dinner
and FHE! Super fun then we saw Tyrone, he had just fractured his back
by falling off a roof so we dropped by to see how he was doing and
ended up teaching him more about the Book of Mormon!
Tuesday was such a great day! We hit the ground running all day it was
so awesome, we saw the littles in the morning and talked with them
about there Book of Mormon reading they did then showed a mormon
message. We saw Sister Tevis, we taught her the restoration and while
doing so she had her pet birds out flying around and one pooped on my
back.... I was ticked needless to say. But we continued the lesson and
ended up setting up a site trip for Thursday! She is progressing very
well and she wants to get back to church. We did some finding in
delevan, we tracted Cobb ave and it was pouring rain, we weren't going
to let it stop us. The rain didn't let up until our last house we
knocked on and John opened the door and we had a really good talk with
him and he expressed how he has been searching and trying to find God
again in his life, we brought the Book of Mormon and he gladly
accepted one and we got a return appointment for Friday!  We had
dinner then ended our exchange tracting in springville
Wednesday was a slow day, it started with branch council in the
morning and Pizza Hut with brother and sister Owens our branch mission
leader couple. We went and did our weekly reading with Dennis! We
finished! A less active in our area has begged us to come over and
teach her 6 year old granddaughter.... we did that and it was a big
waste of time, the girl didn't even pay attention. It was ridiculous.
We tracted in the village of arcade and found Jackie, she was painting
her house and we invited her to pageant  and she showed interest in
the Book of Mormon, so we were able to talk about to and teach her
about it! Set up a time for 2 weeks away cause shes going outta town!
We had dinner with the coopers again! There so awesome and saints for
feeding us! We traveled down to franklinville and taught Jesse sexton
and his wife. It was a good lesson! Said he will come to church in
Sunday!
Thursday was the best day of the week! We had district meeting in the
morning, I trained on how to set expectations immediately, basically
doing how to begin teaching in finding so people know our purpose is
to baptize them! It went well! Then sister tevis and Robert king met
us at the church and we drove out to palmyra! Along the way there was
a man that waved us down, he had a car that ran outta oil so we drove
to the next town Over and bought some oil, came back and they had
driven there car and blew it up... so that put a block into the
schedule, we got to the sacred grove and had a great tour given by
sister smith! It was awesome, best one yet! After the sacred grove we
skipped all the other sites and went to my favorite place, the peter
whitmer farm. Now if you wanna feel the spirit and cry like a baby, go
there. The spirt is the strongest there for me. It was suck a good
trip, sister tevis asked for a blessing while in the visitor center
and demanded it then so we gave her a blessing in the visitor
center... it was really cool day.
Friday was out planning day! We spent the morning planning out this
coming week! We had a lesson with Katie planned but it fell through.
So we decided to go through our area book and sort through the wheat
and the tares, it was good to clean it up. Robert picked us up and we
went down to franklinville for a lesson but it was a no show... we
spent a lot of time contacting potential and former investigators, one
lady we had met a while ago.. we dropped by and the Book of Mormon we
gave her was sitting on her front porch right where she put it when we
left.. but the crazy thing is, is it has been raining like crazy the
past month and the Book of Mormon was still in perfect condition but
sun faded.... just another testimony to me that it's true. God
protecting his favorite book! Haha we had dinner with the littles, it
was a good time! We had our first lesson with john, and he ate the
restoration up! It was so awesome to watch him soak it all in. He's so
prepared and I can't for what the lord has Instore for him and his
family. We ended the night getting antied by a born again... this time
it was about how there is no digging sites at the hill cumorah to
prove to the world that the battle really happened there. I lost my
patience... haha still working in that attribute.
Saturday, can't believe it's already July.... 11 months this month?!
Can't believe it! We went to the pines, a nursing home in machias,NY
and visited a couple members there, always feel so bad for people that
have to live in those places. Did a little potential work in the
machias area. Came back to the apartment for lunch then was back out
again, we walked to Katie to see if we could meet with her but she's
been avoiding us lately... the past couple days. Kinda nervous that
she's not interested anymore. That would hurt my heart more than
anything. Did some more potential and former work. Had a lesson with
Tyrone! We put him in baptismal date for august 5th! We tracted for
the evening, we spent our time in deacon drive. We met Rebecca! She's
a lady who was deployed over seas and stayed with a bunch of Mormons!
She didn't hesitate to take a Book of Mormon or a invite to pageant!
We have a return appointment with her this coming week! So excited!
Sunday was a wonderful fast Sunday, lots of testimonies were born in
the Freedom branch. Love the people here! After church our mission
leaders son was in town with his family and he has 2 kids that are
ages. 19, 16 and aren't active and wanted us to come over and share a
message and she if we could spark something with them, they fed us
lunch as well! We had studies then went to bliss to teach the leffler
family! We taught them about trials and facing them with faith and
staying steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments during
them and how we will come out of them pure, there our refiners fire.
We went to dinner to sister backers house with our mission leader
couple. And she answered a lot of our questions about different
members in the branch. It was a good visit! We finally got in contact
with Katie and she said that she has been avoiding us but only because
her 7 year relationship is at risk right now, not because of the
gospel, some other matters. It broke my heart to here about the hard
time that she is going through. We gave her some advice about how
she's in need of the love and comfort god provides to us in these
times of need and she took that advice and sat down and read the Book
of Mormon! We ended the night getting our transfer email, glad I am
staying here to see the work continue to progress here! LET FREEDOM
RING ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I love all of you and hope this week treats you all well! Happy 4th,
